During construction, our professional staff of meeting planners is housed in the FSU University Center and is available to coordinate meetings, conferences and training using auxiliary locations available in the region. The new FSU Conference Center began construction in June 2008. Our new facility will be located on the previous Conference Center site at the corner of Copeland and West Pensacola Streets in Tallahassee. The new Conference Center will be approximately 47,000 square feet featuring a Jacobethan-style brick exterior and three floors to house a large auditorium, several breakout rooms, an executive boardroom, computer labs, food preparation facilities, and administrative offices. The Center is expected to re-open for business in August 2009.
The new FSU Conference Center will employ the latest technology in its conferencing rooms and computer labs. The Center will be capable of hosting everything from small meetings to large regional conferences. The Center will retain its name, honoring FSU Provost Gus Turnbull, who died of cancer in 1991.
Also, adjacent to the Conference Center site is a new five-story FSU parking garage, which is nearing completion.

Nov. 26, 2008 - The second floor is poured and underway.
Oct. 28, 2008 - The new Conference Center is beginning to shape.
Oct. 23, 2008 - Construction continues at the new Conference Center.
Sept. 28, 2008 - Construction of the concrete elevator pit and concrete beams are installed at the north side of the site.
Sept. 18, 2008 - Construction of the new Conference Center is moving at a rapid pace.
August 23, 2008 - Tropical Storm Fay dumped huge amounts of rain on the construction site but construction workers are already back on the job.
August 8, 2008 - Progress on the footings for the new Conference Center.
July 15, 2008 - The actual site for the Conference Center is prepared for construction. Crews drill and test the ground in preparation for the footings.
July 1, 2008 - With the completion of the adjacent parking garage nearly complete, site preparation for the Conference Center can begin.
April 18, 2008 - Progress is being made on the parking garage which will be directly behind the new center.
March 24, 2008 - From south of Pensacola Street, at the site of the new entrance to the Florida State Conference Center.
